Lars Erstrand

Swingcerely Yours

We have been fortunate to work with and record Lars Erstrand since 1979!

The first time was an album featuring jazz violin player, Gunnar Lidberg.
Since then, we have made six albums with Lars Erstrand and where this collection album is the best from his first five Opus 3 albums recorded during 1983 – 1995.

 - ”Two Sides of...”
 - ”Four Brothers”
 - ”A Tribute to the Benny Goodman Quartet”
 - ”Dream Dancing”
 - ”The Lars Erstrand Sessions”

All of them are remastered directly from the original analogue tape!

Eva Taylor

SACD 22071  Stereo / hybrid

Live at the Pawnshop

It was certainly a magic night at the Pawnshop (Stampen) in March, 1976 when a young lady of 81 completely captured and entranced the audience with her stage presence and vibrant personality. Her communication with the musicians and audience combined to elevate her artistry beyond the aural level to include that indefinable ingredient….. atmosphere. This atmosphere was retrieved from our vaults from 31 years ago and like a good wine has aged well as lovers of jazz from the twenties will appreciate.

Eva Taylor is a direct link with the great era of jazz when she was singing with the Clarence Williams Blue Five and also with Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet who were coming to their peak as influential jazz geniuses in the mid twenties.

The band which perfectly complements her artistry is Maggie’s Blue Five and includes Tomas Örnberg on clarinet & sopranosaxophone and Bent Persson, trumpet from Tomas Örnberg’s Blue Five and later on, The Swedish Jazz Kings.

Also in the band are Andreas Heymowski - clarinet and bassclarinet, Jens ‘Jesse’ Lindgren - trombone, Hans Hultman-Boye - piano, Göran Stachewsky - banjo, Lennart Bohm - bass and Margaretha Thalén - vocals.

Bob Barnard & The Swedish Jazz Kings, featuring Roy Williams
CD22013

SACD 22013  Stereo / hybrid

A Tribute To Young Louis

We are glad to present The Swedish Jazz Kings third Opus 3 album this time with one of the world's foremost interpreters of Louis Armstrong's music  - Australia's jazz star no. 1: The cornet player Bob Barnard. The majority of tracks feature another jazz giant: the trombone player Roy Williams from England.
Yet, another tribute to Louis Armstrong as furthermore
he had celebrated his 100th anniversary last year.
Tributes will continue to be paid to Louis Armstrong regardless of when he was born. There is surely no band more qualified than The Swedish Jazz Kings to do just this, who have after all, devoted a large part of their musical lives to the preservation and portrayal of Louis´ music!

As the title suggests, the main emphasis on this album is on Louis Armstrong's early music, the time when he was at his creative peak!

It's Right Here For You
Featuring Roy Williams

This is one of the greatest swing groups in existence and
guest artist and British trombonist Roy Williams weaves magic. There is surprisingly little hint of the ensemble's European identity, and they sound as though they had just arrived from Kansas City, around 1927.  ( UHF Magazine)
This is a jazz-recording of world-class! (Orkesterjournalen)

Nobody's Blues But Mine

This is the most consistently satisfying CD album of 1920's small band jazz, by a contemporary band that this writer has heard in years. One of the obvious reasons one discovers for this album is variety.
